Dear 2020

Dear 2020,

You were quite the year, but I won.

With the year coming to an end, I took inventory like I normally do and reflected on learning opportunities, victories, and what I plan to leave behind as well as take with me into the new year. The year started out with a momentous trip to India, then quickly went left when a global pandemic hit nearly every industry imaginable: airlines, restaurants, retail, fitness centers, concert venues, etc. A lockdown that most thought would last 4-6 weeks at most is still devastating our world nine months later. Full disclosure, the first couple of months were hard and trying on my close relationships. Sometime around May, I decided I was going to take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and dive deep into all the projects I was passionate about, but let other things take precedence in the past. For those that read my Quarantine post back in July, I was committed to my inner growth which led me to so many other wonderful moments. I got certified as a Reiki Practitioner, something that I am an avid advocate for healing emotional and physical concerns. I also introduced Private Wellness Workshops to help inspire other groups to live their most fulfilled life, and now wrapping up the year with my second published book, The Parenthood Pendulum. I have been in the driver seat of my mindset. I stayed grateful for what I did have; a roof over my head, food to eat, and a healthy body-then everything else followed suit. Allow yourself to relish in the good that has come your way: write down what you accomplished, learned, and what your plans are for the year ahead. Keep the negative talk at bay and congratulate yourself for making it through and coming out better on the other side.
