What Is Blocking Your Sense Of Possibility?

Are you a creator, trying to start a new business, or even adopting a fitness routine and finding yourself stuck? Dr. Srini Pillay, a Harvard-trained psychiatrist world-renowned for merging science and spirituality, has some extremely helpful advice to keep you in the race.

The following circumstances tend to happen and pull you away from your ultimate goal:

Burnout- When you’re depleted emotionally, physically, or mentally, you don’t even have the energy to think positive

Lost- “Where do I even start?”

Given up- You may have tried but tend to quit because you’ve determined your task seems too difficult to obtain

Habits- Wanting to avoid destructive habits that limit you, but find yourself doing it over and over

Worry- If your attention is always stuck on worrying, it’s too difficult to move your thinking to a possibility mindset

Difficult to imagine- You find it difficult to form an image in your mind or find it to be unrealistic

Downer days- The days you are so deep in the trenches you are discouraged and sad

Dr. Pillay suggests taking a few moments to rank yourself from 1-10 on the above possibility blockers to gauge which ones are the most relevant to your situation so you can focus on those issues and get back on track.

Most people let reality determine their commitment. When they feel they don’t have the social media following one should, their first launch was a bust, or they felt like they worked their ass off and the scale is not budging, then automatically, we tend to say, I’m not going to finish this anymore. On the contrary, if you have your focus on the future goal instead of what is happening right in this instance, your confidence changes and reshapes how committed you are regardless of the current factors, and that is what determines your reality.

Living in a possibility mindset gives you more cognitive control and stability, and you’ll recover from errors or letdowns faster. Staying focused on what you envision even if you don’t know entirely how you are going to get there, with a strong possibility mindset you are committed to your vision therefore your first thought won’t be to throw in the towel, but rather brainstorming on what you could do differently? What resources or people can you reach out to for help? What steps do you need to take to get to the next phase of this goal?
